1. Tahquamenon Falls State Park

This is Michigan’s best kept little secret, it’s tucked away in a heavily forested wonderland within Yooper territory (upper peninsula). The falls are one of the 3 largest to east of the Mississippi river.

2. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Nature lovers, this awesome place is definitely for you. If you love kayaking or hiking outdoors; there’s no way to turn a blind eye to this natural Michigan wonder.

3. Traverse City, Michigan

A bustling small town in the northwestern part of the lower peninsula with plenty of beautiful beaches. If you like boating, Midwest summer days, exploring park trails and vineyards then this is the place to be.

4. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

The outstanding 35 mile stretch along Michigan’s N. W. coastline offers you some extraordinary natural views. It’s a spectacular landscape and it earned the title of “The Most Beautiful Place in America” in 2011.

5. Torch Lake, Michigan

You’re thinking this picture is a mistake right? This must be a place in the Caribbean Sea right? No way!! It’s the one and only Torch Lake! These pristine and aqua colored waters are extremely rare to see in the Midwest.

6. Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village

This is the largest indoor-outdoor museum complex in the U. S. and it preserves an enormous amount of our American history. People of all ages can experience factory tours, village living, historical exhibits, see rare memorabilia and much more.

7. Michigan International Speedway

It’s was opened in 1968 in Brooklyn, Michigan and now this D-shaped 2 mile track is used primarily for NASCAR events. Known in motorsports as one of the premier fast tracks for it’s wide racing surface and high banking.

8. Detroit Institute of Arts

Located in Midtown Detroit’s Cultural Center Historic District it’s home to one of the largest and most significant art collections in the U.S. It has over 100 art galleries and is valued at almost 10 billion dollars.

9. The Gilmore Car Museum

This amazing facility full of history is on 90 acres in Hickory Corners, Michigan. Offering a collection of 7 museums with over 300 classic and rare vehicles and also motorcycles from all eras of manufacturing.

10. Manitou Island, Michigan

Known for it’s unspoiled habitat and historic light station still in operation off of the Keweenaw Peninsula (U.P.). This protected area is attractive for birdwatching, camping, hiking and kayaking or boating in Lake Superior.

11. Boyne Mountain Resort

Boasting a vast collection of accommodations, this popular resort includes attractions for both winter and summer seasons. The premier Bavarian style lodge is mostly known for skiing and golf. It’s about 17 miles south of Petoskey in the L. P.

12. Horseback Riding | Ann Arbor

You might think it’s all about academics and the University of Michigan in this thriving college town, it’s true indeed but hold your horses, you can also enjoy some equestrian ambitions. There’s plenty of stables around to make your dreams come true.

13. Silver Lake State Park

This is an excellent place to visit for some super fun times. You have so many options to choose from at this public recreation area of about 3,000 acres. One section of the dunes permits off-road vehicles for some extra excitement.

Mackinac Island, Michigan

Travel to a place and time when automobiles didn’t exist. You can only gain access to this popular National Historic Landmark by ferry boat.
